Body Discomfort and Stress
Thankfully the arbitrary boundary drawn between mind, body and spirit is being disregarded by more and more people now. And it is becoming widely accepted that mental stress can cause physical problems and vice versa.
As a practicing Consultant Hypnotist I often help people overcome problems related to unhealthy habits of thought, feeling and behavior. And the common denominator is underlying stress that is not being properly managed.
One way to alleviate unhealthy stress is by changing negative patterns of self-talk and internal imagery, which hypnosis is very effective with. Yet often I will recommend other modalities to my clients, ones that address the mind through the body.
Yoga and deep breathing are the first practices that come to mind in the arsenal against stress. Another are the various relaxation products on the market today such as Massage Chairs which allow you to relieve muscular tension when the services of a qualified massage therapist is not an option.
A multi-faceted approach is best when curtailing the unwanted effects of negative stress in our lives.
